This past weekend, Joe Proehl represented MCMS in the All-State Basketball Classic. He competed with over 200 other 8th graders in the two day event. Day one was filled with various skills competitions. Joe competed and placed 2nd overall in the Hot Shot competition.
Day two shifted to team play. Representing the North, Joe and his teammates did not disappoint. The team went a perfect 5-0 and were named the 2025 All-State Tournament Champions!
Congratulations Joe! Way to represent MCMS.
Today we would like to take a moment and celebrate our amazing MCMS Athletic Director! Mrs. Mattson does it all… teacher, coach, athletic director, and one of the biggest cheerleaders our student athletes have. She organizes games and tournaments, supports coaches and student athletes, fields all kinds of requests, and does it all with a smile.
THANK YOU for all your hard work and dedication, Mrs. Mattson. MCMS is lucky to have you as part of our Raider family!

Eighth graders were challenged to model the "slope-intercept" form of a linear equation in math today. Do you remember it??? If you said "y=mx+b," then you can thank your math teacher! They had a lot of fun learning kinesthetically. Who says math isn't fun??

MCMS had a lot to celebrate last night! Both the 7th & 8th grade teams won in 2 sets against the Illini Central Cougars AND we got to celebrate the accomplishments of the 8th grade volleyball team and 8th grade pep band members! We are so proud of all our Raiders and their many talents! #MCRaiderNation

One item to note is that we will have to add a 1/2 day next April when we find out the date of the ACT test. The state doesn't publish that date until later in the year.

Playing at high level competition for titles that every team dreams of emotions can run high from players, fans and coaches. In intense moments, Midwest Central continues to keep their game level headed and show respect for opponents, teammates, coaches and officials while bringing home the hardware! Congratulations to these young men and thank you for representing MCMS!
On Sunday Connor Coile (2nd place), Griffin Tudela (1st place), Colton Hill (1st place) and Odysseus Hale (2nd place) earned enough team points to place 2nd as a group in their division at regionals!
The club placed 4th overall in a 24 team regional.
Midwest Central Youth Club will be sending 15 wrestlers to Sectionals this weekend!

Tonight is also 8th grade recognition night celebrating our 12, 8th grade volleyball players, Nevaeh, Emma, Kallie, Alyssa, Julia, Tailer, Elizabeth, Sophia, McKenzie, Nora, Kenzie, and Kendall and our 2 pep band 8th graders Cozette and Madison!
Sixth Graders experienced a theatrical production of Lois Lowry's "The Giver" at the Performing Arts Center in Springfield. Students spent the third quarter reading and analyzing theme, imaginary and word choice in the text. Students were excited and grateful to see the book come to life. It's a great day to be a Raider!
