Mrs. Bush's accelerated 6th grade math class, took a brain break after taking their Chapter 2 Test and played Math Pickle! Students partnered up and competed to roll their dice to see who can list integers from least to greatest based on their roll. If they couldn't find a place for their integer, they were in a pickle!

While opening day for duck season isn't until this weekend, the Lady Raiders got an early start on everyone else as both teams completed a duck roast Tuesday evening in Green Valley.
The 7th grade girls kicked it off early, and even though they started the game shooting a only 1-10 from the field, their relentless defense kept them in the game until the baskets started to fall. The Raiders jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game and took a somewhat comfortable 16-6 lead into the locker room at halftime. Although a 10-point lead doesn't seem like much, the Raiders still looked in control of the game. Havana scored first after halftime to make it an 8-point game, then the Raiders took over. They finished the game on a 19-4 run to send the Ducks flying south by a score of 35-12. Peyton led the Raiders with 13 points and 3 assists; while Lydia, Sophia, Kallie & Peyton shared the rebounding honors, all with 5 rebounds each. Kallie pitched in 7 points off the bench to help improve the 7th grade to 6-1 on the young season.
When the Raiders traveled to Havana last season, there was only a total of 24 points scored between both teams in an offensive struggle. This Tuesday evening contest proved to be much different story as there were eight lead changes throughout the game. The Raiders were down by 2 in the final minute of the first half when Peyton knocked down a momentum-changing 3 and Kenzie capped it off with another field goal to head into the locker room up 15-12. Havana led by as many as 5 late in the 3rd quarter, but Kallie found Kenzie in the corner for another trey as time expired to close the gap to 1 point entering the final frame. The Lady Raiders outscored Havana 11-5 in the 4th to finish cooking the Ducks 34-29. Kenzie led the balanced scoring attack with 13 points, while Peyton added 9 and Charlie added 7. Charlie was an animal on the boards as she grabbed 13 rebounds on the night, Kenzie was one rebound shy of a double-double with 9 rebounds. While Julia didn't have a big scoring night, she moved the ball around well all night tallying up five assists to lead the Raiders. The 8th grade girls move to 5-2.

The 7th grade Lady Raiders knew coming into this game that they were going to get their first true test of the season after outscoring their first five opponents 203-36. It was an exciting game from start to finish as neither team led by more than four points the entire way. Peyton led the Raiders with 11 points and 8 rebounds, while Kallie was huge in the paint adding a tough 6 points. Sophia and Zoey rounded out the scoring with four a piece! Peyton and Kallie each had a shot to win the game in regulation but came up just short as the Raiders fell to Broadmoor 29-25 in overtime.
The 8th grade girls took the court next and they even though Broadmoor scored in the opening seconds of the game, the Raiders went on a 12-0 run to take the lead from there to eventually take a 12-6 lead into halftime. It was back and forth in the 3rd quarter but the Raiders shut the door in the 4th as they outscored the Bruins 13-2 in the final frame to take the home victory 29-12. Kenzie led the way with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Charlie added 6 and Julia added 4. Nora J had the sticky hands of the night coming away with four steals!
The Lady Raiders welcome Havana for a home game on Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM!

Gooooooooo Lady Raiders!

The 7th grade Lady Raiders continue to dominate both sides of the court on Tuesday evening in Green Valley! These ladies were relentless from top to bottom and refused to allow South Pekin to put any points up on the scoreboard. Kallie led the Raiders with 12 points, while Peyton added 8 and Izzy added 6. Sophia was in the right spot at the right times taking away 6 steals from the Tornadoes and Lydia was the team leader in rebounding. This team continues to move the ball well with 15 assists on 19 made baskets, Kynlie leading the way with four on their way to a 38-0 victory.
The 8th grade Lady Raiders got themselves back in the win column thanks to a solid defensive effort by only giving up 14 points to South Pekin. The Raiders were only up by 7 going into the final quarter when they shut the door on the Tornadoes and outscored them 9-0 in the final six minutes. Kenzie and Peyton led the way with 9 points each as they defeated South Pekin 30-14.
The Lady Raiders will face a solid test Thursday evening at HOME as they take on Broadmoor at 5:30 PM!

The 7th grade Lady Raiders went turkey hunting Monday evening and came away with another dominate victory. After a back and forth 4-2 start, the Raiders went on an 18-2 run to end the first half and never looked back. A total of nine girls contributed in the scoring column with an impressive 13 assists on 18 field goals made. Peyton led with 13 points while Kynlie came off the bench with a big 8 points. Nora & Kallie dominated the boards with four rebounds each while Tenley was a point guard's nightmare coming away with 7 steals! The Raiders took game one by a score of 38-14.
Game two of the evening was extremely physical from start to finish. The Turks completely dominated the first half of the game as they went into the locker room up 23-3. The Raiders weren't going to allow that to continue as they matched Tremont's aggressiveness the entire 2nd half and outscored Tremont 20-8 in the 2nd half to only come up short by a score of 31-23. Kenzie led the team with 10 points, Julia was right behind her adding 8. Charlie wasn't about to let Tremont's point guard breathe as she came away with 5 steals on the night. The team would like to send good thoughts and prayers to Ayla as she suffered a broken finger very early in the game. We hope to see her back on the court sooner than later!

Today, the Lady Raiders hit the road to take on Tremont at 5:30 PM.
Gooooo Raiders!
