The Lady Raiders completed the sweep of Chester East Lincoln on Thursday evening in very convincing fashion! Peyton led the Raiders with her season high 17 points, which included a Clark-like 5-7 shooting from three-point land. The Raiders grabbed 36 rebounds with Nora leading the way with 7. Nine additional Raiders contributed to the scoring column that consisted of Kallie with 6; Jaina, Tenley, Kynlie, Lydia & Zoey with 4, Libby with 3, Sophia & Nora with 2. The 7th Graders move to 14-2 on the season with a 50-12 win. The 8th grade squad welcomed Ayla back for the first time since breaking her finger at Tremont on October 7th. She made the most of her comeback with a team leading 8 steals and converting that into 10 points on the night! The Raiders scored the first 22 points in the game which eventually turned into a 40-2 victory! Kenzie led with 14 points, while Julia pitched in 8, Nora J with 4, Charlie & Peyton each added a field goal. The 7th grade Lady Raiders faced off with Mt. Pulaski in the title game of the Logan County Tournament on Tuesday evening. The Raiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead to start the game, only to give the Honeybears the next 5 points early in the 1st quarter. Our ladies clawed their way back to take a 10-9 lead after the opening quarter. Peyton spread the lead to four with a 3-pointer from the left wing then Kallie added another four points in the quarter to give the Raiders their largest lead of the night at 5 points going into halftime. Mt. Pulaski came out after halftime with the hot hand to tie the game up at 17, then Peyton drained another 3 from the right wing to take it back. Both teams headed into the final quarter tied at 22. Mt. Pulaski took the lead late in the 4th quarter for the first time since mid-way through the 1st. The Raiders had trouble getting their shots to drop, while a Pulaski guard banked one from the left baseline to seal the victory, 30-27. It was a valiant effort by our girls on a night where things didn't go well, but they still had an opportunity to win the game. Peyton led the Raiders with 10 points, while Kallie added 7, Lydia had 4, Sophia had 3, Kynlie had 2 and Nora pitched in a free throw. These girls have the rest of the week off and will take their 12-2 record to Rankin next Tuesday, November 4th.
