The Raiders basketball team had a rare 8th grade only night at home against Mt Pulaski, but the night ended as most have this season as the Raiders had another clean sweep in the 2 game affair! In game 1 Joe Proehl led the charge with 13 points as Midwest Central doubled up the Bruins 36-18! The guard also had 5 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Jase Canada, Evan Schmidt, Breckin Guy, and Noah Coffey also had multiple buckets for the Raiders, and Schmidt led the team with another 7 rebounds! In game 2 the Raiders defeated the Bruins again by double digits 29-19! Jonah Evans was 2 rebounds short of a double double, finishing with a team high 10 points and 8 rebounds and Trent Butler (6 points), Brayson Purdy (5 points), and Tyler Byrd (4 points) all had multiple buckets to contribute to the winning effort! The Raiders head into the weekend 8-1 with a big matchup at home Tuesday against the Farmers of Farmington beginning at 5:30!

The coin wars challenge had mind blowing results! When we started out, the goal was a collection of $350. After two weeks of collecting and some friendly competition, we raised $1,472.09!!! THANK YOU to everyone who contributed because this is going to a great cause! Student Council has decided to throw a double pizza party for the top two teams and is going to throw in drinks to the two students who brought in the most money. #MCRaiderNationProud

The 7th grade Raiders basketball team stayed undefeated and moved to 6-0 as they defeated the Brimfield Indians 48-26. Jaxton Bolen led the way for the Raiders with 19 points and Jase Canada added 16 points including an efficient 5 of 6 from the free throw line. In 8th grade action it was a physical game early with some drama as Jase Canada knocked down a half court shot at the buzzer to end the first with the Raiders up 11-6. The Raiders led the tightly contested game all the way through with a big fourth quarter out of Breckin Guy, who led the Raiders with 7 points in the quarter and a team high 17 points and 12 rebounds on the evening. Joe Proehl added a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Evan Schmidt added 4 points and 8 boards as he helped the Raiders dominate the glass 35-26. With the win the Raiders moved to 5-1 on the season! The Raiders look to keep things going with big away matchup at Parkview on Monday!

The 7th grade Lady Raiders had a tough time getting shots to fall on Thursday evening at Chillicothe. The Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead but eventually fell to the Grey Ghosts for their 3rd loss of the season. Sophia led the Raiders with 5 points and Emma added a nice 4 off the bench. Kallie & Zoey each added 2. Peyton led with 10 rebounds and 3 assists in the evening. These girls finish their regular season with a 17-3 record and they're heading to regionals on Monday with the #1 seed at Washington Central! The 8th graders fell behind early and were never able to overcome the deficit. Nora J led the Raiders with a hard-earned 6 points, while Kenzie added 4, Ayla swished a 3 from the right wing, and Charlie added 2. Charlie & Nora were flying high to get the rebounds to each grab 7. Kenzie found the open teammates to collect a team high 3 assists. This concludes their regular season with a record of 11-9 and they will start regionals next weekend! Good luck ladies!

Another night and two more victories for the boys basketball teams as they swept the Havana Ducks on Tuesday night! The 7th grade team stayed undefeated at 5-0 with a 50-26 victory! Jase Canada had a big game for the Raiders, pouring in 19 points. Jaxton Bolen added 11 points and Remi Arthalony added 8 of his own on a couple of 3 pointers! The 8th graders added to the win pile with a 48-20 victory! Jase Canada led the charge for the Raiders with 14 points on an efficient 5 of 6 shooting, including 4 for 5 from downtown. Joe Proehl also added 10 points and Noah Coffey added 7 of his own. The Raiders defense was stifling in the 2nd quarter, holding the Ducks scoreless. The Raiders also dominated the glass and were efficient from the free throw line to move to 4-1 on the young season. The Raiders look to keep the momentum going on Thursday with a huge home matchup with Brimfield beginning at 5:30 PM. Come out and support the Raiders!

8th grade nights are always so special to recognize our athletes who have put the work in to better themselves and to celebrate them moving onto High School to continue their student-athlete abilities. Our Lady Raiders completed the sweep of Peoria Christian in eventually convincing fashion. The 7th grade game started out to be a thriller as the Raiders held a slim 1-point lead going into the locker room at halftime. Everything started to click in the 2nd half as these ladies outscored the Chargers by 20 points in the 2nd half to clinch a 37-16 victory. Peyton led this squad with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals while Sophia moved the ball well to pick up 4 assists. Nora had another solid night with 8 points, Zoey with some nice moves in the post adding 7, and Izzy, Tenley, Lydia & Kallie each added 2. The 7th grade squad moves to 17-2 with one game left in the regular season. The eighth graders traded their pre-game princess crowns for a basketball uniform and went to work for their last basketball game in Green Valley. The Lady Raiders won every quarter in this game which led to a 33-16 win over Peoria Christian. Charlie had a big night leading the Raiders with 12 points and 4 assists, while Julia was an animal on the boards pulling down 9 rebounds. Nora J, Ayla & Charlie were the thieves of the night as each collected 3 steals to make life miserable on the Chargers. Kenzie added 10 points on only one good ankle, Nora J added 6, Julie with 3, and Peyton rounded out the scoring with 2. This win moves their record to 11-8. The Lady Raiders travel to Chillicothe for their final game before regionals on Thursday evening at 5:00 PM! Good luck ladies!

The 7th grade Lady Raiders moved to 16-2 in a dominating victory at VIT on Monday evening. Peyton and Nora shared scoring honors with 8 points each while the Raiders scored the first 28 points in the game which led to a 35-7 victory! Kynlie and Nora grabbed a team leading 6 rebounds on a night where the Raiders completely controlled the glass, out-rebounding the Rebels 31-9. Tenley had her best game of the year with 6 points, 3 steals and a team leading 3 assists. Sophia added four points; Lydia, Kallie, Zoey & Sage each added two, while Kynlie added one to round out the scoring. The 8th grade game proved to be a low-scoring thriller as the girls squeaked out an 18-16 victory to complete the sweep. The Lady Raiders trailed by one going into halftime but they had no problem taking the lead back as Peyton knocked down a mid-range jumper early in the 3rd quarter. Sophia came off the bench with a hot hand to swish two 3-point shots to eventually seal the game for the Raiders. Julia had a big night with 8 rebounds to go with an excellent defensive effort to keep VIT's big girl under control, who had most of their points. Peyton led the Raiders with 8 points, Sophia chipped in 6, while Ayla and Julia each added two! Charlie continued to be a nuisance on defense, collecting three of the team's 8 steals.
