We know our Raiders are trying to make plans for the summer and have had some questions lately about the last day of school for the 2023-24 school year. It is CURRENTLY May 30th. Please keep in mind that even though we have been blessed with wonderful weather lately, we may still need to use another emergency day before the end of the year and the last day could change.

The band and chorus students performed for the residents of The Lodge today in preparation for Solo & Ensemble Contest. Performing for others is a great way to help with nerves. Everyone did a great job!

Mrs. Schneider’s work skills class focused their work hour on helping the local Manito-Forest City Rotary chapter. The students assisted in unloading and organizing the items for the annual consignment sale this weekend! We are proud of our students for representing our school with an amazing work ethic and kindness. We wish the Rotary club good luck on their upcoming consignment sale on March 2nd!

Students in Señora Brodbeck's Spanish 2 class recently wrote their own four-act scripts about eating out in restaurants. They then shared their scripts with classmates who had to determine where everyone ate (from Avanti's to Nacho Mamas), what they had (from chicken alfredo to hairy—yes, hairy—chicken fingers), how the food was (you can imagine), and who paid the bill—if they paid it at all!

The National Honor Society of Midwest Central High School is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Donation hours will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the high school gym. Walk-ins are always welcome. However, for the best donor experience, please make an appointment in advance by calling 309.968.6766 or by emailing Bree Kerley at kerley@midwestcentral.org. You may also make an appointment on the Blood Donor app, online at www.redcrossblood.org, or by using the QR code. Making an appointment helps to ensure we have the appropriate number of Red Cross personnel to accommodate our donors and helps get you in, out, and on your way! Please consider using the Rapid Pass system to complete your pre-donation paperwork before the day of your appointment. This can also help shorten your stay at the donation site. Visit www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass for easy, step-by-step instructions. Remember, donating blood during an NHS-sponsored blood drive provides you the opportunity to give a lifesaving gift as well as support the scholarship opportunities of our National Honor Society members.

Reading The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne can be difficult! English 3 students in Mrs. Picken's classes took a break today from reading the original text. They performed it in Readers' Theater style.

Students in Ms. Hofreiter's Basic Ag Mechanics class have spent the week hands-on learning about electricity. From stripping wires, to wiring outlets, switches and more. It is great to see the students in the AG wing learn these skills!
