Senior, Khloee got the opportunity to job shadow a local vet in San Jose, Illinois yesterday. She got to observe a spay procedure on a dog and participated in an appointment where a cow had an abscess checked out.
Khloee will be pursuing a degree in Agriculture Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Illinois State University. She is an exceptional student who is passionate about animals, especially horses.
We are proud of our Raider!!!

Our FFA members had an incredible experience at the Agriculture Legislative Day in Springfield, IL! Mr. Hyde’s honors sophomore English class has a warning for you: BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH! The class assassinated Julius Caesar this week during a dramatic reading of Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar.

Last night, Lady Raiders Softball fought hard against a tough Pleasant Plains team, with Pleasant Plains coming out on top 2 to 1. Izzy Passmore had 11 strikeouts while Emma Junkin stayed tough behind the plate. Lexi Wood had critical plays at shortstop, and Kally Richardson made hard plays at first. Offensively, Abby Markle scored the only point for the Raiders by escaping a run down after being walked and moved around the bases from a hit by Karsyn Skaggs. The Lady Raiders stayed determined last night and are looking forward to hosting Pekin on Thursday!

On Saturday, March 2nd, eight clubs/organizations had students volunteer their time to help the Manito-Forest City Rotary Club at the annual consignment sale! Students volunteered to put up fliers before the sale, helped set up and tear down, worked a few hours at the sale and some even worked the whole day! Students welcomed people, gave out buyer numbers, ran sheets from the auctioneer trucks, were cashiers, entered data into the computers, helped in the concessions area, sorted tickets and assisted auctioneers holding up items! It Was A “Raider Nation” Effort!!!

The Lady Raiders travel to Pleasant Plains today for a V game. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30. Good Luck Ladies!

Mrs. Frank’s Intro to Business class has been learning about environmental factors that affect businesses. Based on current economic and political factors, the class learned about employer and employee challenges in Argentina. As a reward for their hard work, today students enjoyed traditional Argentinian treats: alfajores and galletita de limon!

The Lady Raiders softball team defeated Eureka 8 to 1 last night at home for an exciting opening start to the season. Izzy Passmore dominated in the pitcher’s circle with 18 strikeouts, while Kally Richardson and Karsyn Skaggs both went 4 for 4 at the plate. Karsyn, Kally, and Lexi Wood also had clutch RBIs, allowing the Raiders to advance their lead. The Lady Raiders are looking to continue their great start as they hit the road to play Pleasant Plains tonight. Go Raiders!

Mrs. DeSutter's Physics students are starting their Egg Drop Lab Practical today. There is a twist to this Egg Drop though! Their grade is mainly determined on them calculating the potential energy, kinetic energy and velocity of their device and only a small portion of their grade will be dependent on if the egg breaks. We will post the winners later this week!
