Help support your local High School Seniors by contributing to the “Rooting for a Raider” Scholarship. This is normally only supported by Midwest Central staff, but we would love to invite our community to join in. There are many seniors who are going to college or trade schools after graduation, and they need our support. If you would like to donate, you can stop by the high school any time with your donation. All donations are very much appreciated! Thank you to everyone for the continued support in ensuring our students have a bright future!

Two local business women spoke to the students in Mrs. Frank’s business classes. Mrs. Kerley gave her first-hand experience as an entrepreneur and small business owner during Introduction to Business. Senior Consumer Management students heard Mrs. Dierker speak on the importance of investment, and her role in commercial real estate. We are thankful to these leaders in our community for sharing their time and talents with the leaders of tomorrow!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to shed light on an often-stigmatized topic. On May 3rd, Midwest Central High School will host a very special event for students - Raider Re-Charge. The expert discussion panel will consist of the following three individuals: Brittany Richmond (Teen and Mental Health Speaker/Anxiety Expert/Author), Caleb Uselton (Rankin Middle School Teacher/Mental Health Advocate), and Angie Harbourn (MCHS School Counselor/Licensed Mental Health Professional). Jeff Hyde, MCHS English teacher, will be moderating. This event will delve into the complexities of mental health in a candid and supportive setting. Let's break down barriers and foster understanding together. Save the date.... Raider Re-Charge, let’s go!

Hollie Ford, a senior at Midwest Central High School, has been selected by the faculty and staff as the Student of the Month in Fine Arts. Hollie is the daughter of Wesley and Carla Ford. Throughout high school, Hollie has helped decorate memorial trees in front of the fire station. She is currently taking an online medical terminology class through ICC. After graduating, Hollie plans to attend Oehrline School of Cosmetology. Hollie would like to personally thank Mrs. Gray and the Midwest Central School District staff for this opportunity.

"The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) “ was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation's children." The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Our staff selected Courtney as our 2024 DAR Good Citizen because she demonstrates these qualities to an outstanding degree. On April 20th, Courtney attended the DAR luncheon where she was recognized with other students in the area. We are proud of our Raider and her continued dedication to her school and community. Courtney is now eligible for the scholarship portion so let's wish her the best of luck!!!

Over the course of the season Isabella Passmore has been striking out batters at such a prodigious rate that she has already broken the single season strikeout mark for the Lady Raiders with 3 full weeks left in the regular season! She currently has 251 strikeouts from the circle breaking the record she tied last season that was originally set by 2006 graduate Laura Wright. Also, she has set a new career strikeout record for Midwest Central with 664 and counting! The previous record was held by Laura Wright as well (639). AMAZING!
