Today, and during the previous two Wednesdays, students in Mrs. Sarff’s health classes have had the opportunity to learn more about mindfulness.
THANK YOU to Emily Schoenfelder, our guest educator from the University of Illinois Extension!
Students made glitter jars and practiced writing a gratitude journal. The glitter jars are a strategy to help us to think about calming our minds and bodies and the gratitude journals allow us to think about things we are thankful for. The students did a great job creating their jars and took the time to put some real thought into their gratitude journals.

Mr. Servis’ Freshmen and Sophomore students at Midwest Central High School are wrapping up their introductory unit of the Scientific Method.
The Freshmen Physical Science classes are seen conducting a Senses Lab using an analytical approach to finding out which body sense will produce the quickest reaction time to catch a falling ruler. Students then collected their data and came to some interesting conclusions for the fastest reaction times.
As for the Sophomore Biology classes, we tested if a change in a person’s activity level will yield an increase in heart rate. As shown, these students had to get moving to produce an accelerated activity level. This integral “problem-solving process” is key to answering questions in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
