Ms. Tammy and Mrs. Moore's morning Pre-K class had fun experimenting with mixing colors and dying eggs!

During our month of staff recognition the 4th grade team’s post got missed! Here we are, introducing the 4th grade educators of Ms. E. Waddell, Mrs. Martin, and Ms. Epkins. This is by far our “youngest” team of educators with a first year teacher, second year teacher, and third year year teacher but they have a firm foundation of skills from student teaching, substitute teaching, and careers earlier in life. When your student is in 4th grade they experience quite a show for every unit with transforming their rooms, halls, and even selves into scenes and characters to represent their units of study. This transformation is seen in their students throughout the year growing into independent adolescents by the end of the year! Kudos 4th grade team!

MCHS students took The Raider Roast on the road... to MCPS!!! Staff at the primary school were excited for the delicious coffee, tea, and lemonade.

Last week the Kindness club wanted to spread some joy at MCPS. These little Leprechauns hid shamrocks for 12 lucky staff members to find.
Each person who found a shamrock received a prize, including two gift cards that were generously donated by Roasted!

Students at MCPS have been celebrating Read Across America this month. One of our library activities was to design a potato to look like a storybook character. We think these spuds are pretty special!

Mrs. Wood & Ms. Mangold's class set out leprechaun traps on Friday, hoping to catch one over the weekend. Instead, their room was destroyed by them! They weren't successful in trapping one again this year, but the leprechauns did leave everyone gold chocolate coins!

Join our team!

May all your wishes come true today! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Mrs. Gough's and Mrs. Herrin's class have been working on adding more detail and being very specific with our writings. We practiced by collectively writing out steps to make a PB&J. We tested ourselves by visiting with Mrs. Charlton's kindergarten class to see if we were specific enough to teach younger kiddos how to make one all by themselves. These 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders did an amazing job with their directions and working side by side with kindergarten students. Everyone enjoyed eating their PB&J's in the end!

The next student attendance 1/2 day will be April 17th. (The calendar released at the beginning of the year listed the April date as a TBD date based on SAT testing.)
Dismissal Times:
MS - 11:20 AM
HS - 11:30 AM
PS - 11:40 AM

Reading is more fun when the characters from the story join you!

Miss Waddell's 4th grade class filled their jar and earned a party! They chose to have class outside, ALL DAY!!
Students worked with angles, read about the history of slavery, enjoyed a nature walk, combined REAL things to make an imaginary creature, read, and wrote stories giving objects human qualities.
It was a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful weather and take a break from screens!

What a great day in Mrs. Bohm's first grade class!!! Students were able to share/read their animal books to parents, guardians, and staff! They all enjoyed to so much.... plus they got some yummy cookies and punch, too!
