Hello Raiders,
I'm sending this out to help clear up some misconceptions from people that have contacted me or the district. We fingerprint background check all employees and contractors upon hire with the FBI and State police. We also conduct a check of the sex offender and violent offender website. We are also required by law to recheck the sex offender and violent offender website every 5 years. Additionally, once fingerprinted the state police is required to update the employer upon any new offences. That is to say if any employee or contractor that has been background checked for our district should commit any new offense breaking the law we receive a fingerprint update at that time. In essence all employees or contractors are under constant surveillance for criminal activity.
The second concern was our timing of our custodial job posting. Summertime is our busiest time of the year for cleaning and maintenance. We strip and wax all classrooms, hallways and common spaces. We refinish the gym floors each summer. We do deep cleaning, paint touch up, change all HVAC filters, clean all our buses and a variety of other items that is quite extensive. Manpower is of utmost importance and we often hire additional people to help out. Our maintenance and custodial employees work tirelessly from 6:00 AM-2:00 PM daily. We have an amazing group of people that make our schools look great for the students and staff. Thus, getting someone to replace our missing employee is of utmost importance.
We always welcome your questions and concerns, and I appreciate those that have reached out to the district.
Sincerely,
Dr. Todd Hellrigel
